What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are the most durable and natural-looking solution available for our County Dental patients who are missing one or more teeth. Dental implants are permanent and allow for natural cleaning, chewing, and speech. The dental implants process generally takes from three to six months.
Placing Dental Implants
During the first visit, the patient’s mouth and jaw will be examined visually and via CT scan to determine whether the patient is a good candidate for dental implants. During the second visit, the patient will be made comfortable with local anesthesia and his or her gums and jaw will be prepared to receive the implants. The dentist will then insert the titanium tooth roots into the patient’s jaw and close the incisions with stitches.
After the implantation, the patient will return home to allow the healing process to begin and the implants to become fused to the jawbone. This process generally takes from three to six months. On the third visit for placing dental implants, the patient will be fitted with custom-crafted, natural-looking porcelain replacement teeth.
