In addition to dental crowns, dental bonding can improve the appearance of stained, broken, worn, crooked, or malformed teeth. Bonding can be used to quickly and easily change the shape and/or color of a single tooth or many. Simply explained, bonding involves placing a thin coating of plastic film on the front surface of teeth. Then a thin, putty- like bonding material is applied to the surface of the teeth and is sculpted, shaped, and color-matched to the patient’s teeth. After the new surface is smoothed out and completely polished, a high intensity light is used to help the bonding harden.
